Chocolate Chip Cookies

I'd like to share a great recipe for chocolate chip cookies. I have several favorites but this seems to be the one that I revert to whenever I want something that is quick and easy to prepare.

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2-1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
12 oz. chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine the butter and both sugars. Cream together until light and fluffy.

Add vanilla and eggs. Mix until well incorporated into the creamed mixture.

Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to the wet ingredients and stir until a stiff dough forms.

Stir in your favorite chocolate chips.

Place cookie dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet or onto parchment paper. I like to make large cookies so I use a medium-sized cookie scoop to form the dough balls. Bake for approximately 18 minutes. Adjust your time to 10-12 minutes if you are making smaller cookies.

Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Voila! Now go save yourself a few before your family devours them!

I am currently in the process of making tooth fairy pillows. These were started earlier in the year and then were tossed aside after I got bored (standard modus operandi).

It feels good to finally see the piles of UFO's getting smaller and smaller. I keep reminding myself, one bite at a time, Lettie, one bite at a time.

I hope you all have a creative day!

Aloha!

Lettie - We are on the same wave length - I just made a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Nothing beats a chocolate chip cookie right from the oven although I must say that the dough is pretty good in itself! I can't wait to see you tooth fairy pillows. Do you find the Japanese craft books hard to follow as I assume there is not English translation. I always wondered about that - some patterns are probably self explanatory. Anne from Texas

I have to wipe the drool off my chin, I could kill for a homemade chocolate chip cookie. I've been home recuperating after an accident and have been doing lots of baking but I am trying to use only whats in my pantry, no chips there, darn.
Those tooth fairy pillows are going to be too cute. I made something similar when my kids were young but I have no idea where it is now.

Hi Anne,
You're right, you cannot beat a warm chocolate chip cookie!
I'm a very visual person, so decifering the Japanese diagrams in the books usually aren't that much of a problem for me. If you give me instructions without pictures, you will frustrate me to no end.
Nine out of 10 times I create my own patterns for the things that I make so I guess you could say that I prefer following my own method of construction anyway.
Have a nice day!

sbonetsue,
Sorry to entice you. Just think about it this way, you will spare yourself of all the extra calories that are in those chocolate chips!
I'm currently using up things from my pantry and freezer too. I'm too lazy to go to the market anyway and with the price of food these days, it's a good idea to use it all up before making additional purchases.
Take care and get well soon!

Lettie - The chocolate chip cookies look sooooo yummy. But, alas, they are not on my diet. I will just have to be satisfied with what I imagine they taste like.

I can't wait to see the tooth fairy pillows. I am guessing they will be just as colorful as the pin cushions. Your displays always looks so nice. Have a great day! Joyce in Iowa

Ummmmm! I can smell them from here! Anything with chocolate is tops on my list of comfort foods.
When my children were little I embroidered tooth fairy pillow cases. The tooth fairy looked a lot like tinkerbell! Below her fairy dust was a little tooth pocket.
