That extra half of a pound that I've been carrying around since Washington,DC is still here folks. Actually, at this point, I'm growing rather fond of the little guy. NOT!!! I've clearly been making poor choices lately and have been eating like a glutton. I'm hoping for a better week ahead.
Today's recipe is for meatloaf.
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 cup chopped onion
2 large cloves of garlic, minced
1 lb. ground turkey
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
3/4 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Saute onion in butter until translucent, add garlic and saute for a few minutes more. Set mixture aside to cool for 5 minutes.
Combine turkey, bread crumbs, egg, 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper to the onion mixture. Mix well. Pack mixture into an 8 x 4-inch loaf pan. Top with the remaining ketchup. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until no longer pink in the center and internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. Let stand for 5 minutes before slicing.
We celebrated my mother's birthday this weekend at a Chinese restaurant. I decided to make Asian-themed Candy Bar Slider's for the occasion. All you paper crafter's out there have probably made these before.
They're very easy to put together and make great party favors.
Just pull up on the bow and the candy bar slides up to the top. Fun!
Have a simply marvelous day, everyone!
Aloha!

Another great idea from you. Sorry you haven't lost any more weight. It is tough. Are you getting some exercise?
Hang in there, Arlette. Weight loss takes patience. As the great speaker Zig Ziegler said, "I lost 37 pounds in ten months by losing 1.9 ounces per day" and he wrote one of his best selling books by writing just 1.26 pages a day. I am sure you can reach your goal, just do a little thing every day.
Fondly, Carrie
p.s. your little package is on its way! :)
Lettie, sometimes during a diet you reach a plateau and level out for a spell. It has something to do with your metabolism. Your body is afraid it is going to starve, so it becomes more efficient and doesn't need as many calories to maintain. But it doesn't last forever. Soon the pounds will be melting away.
The candy bar sliders are very cute. Also, thanks for the meatloaf recipe. I love meatloaf.
Take care.
Feliz cumpleaƱos para tu mami, que lindo detalle,felicidades....Happy birthday
Those sliders are so cute! I've never seen them before.
And if all you have left from a trip is 8 ounces--give yourself a break. Just a bump in the road.
Thanks for the meatloaf recipe. Sounds good. And I love your candy bar sliders. I bought paper to make those one time but of course I still have the paper and I think I ate the candy bars. LOLOLOL
Can't wait to try the meatloaf...and those candy bar sliders are so fun!
Cute idea! Don't get discouraged about your diet. You may be at a plateau.
