When Ideas Go Amuck

Envision something in your head, translate it to paper, then onto fabric. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. This, my friends, is a doesn't.

An octo yo-yo starfish barnacle pincushion thinga-ma-jiggy. Maybe it's the fabric that I chose for this project. Perhaps if made in soft, flowery pastels, the results would have been different.

If you are interested in my method for attaching yo-yo's, please read my tutorial here.

The back is almost as scary as the front.

Back to the drawing board with this idea.

This picture is for Ferne who requested to see the button collection in the background of many of my photos. Here is a link to a post that I made last year with additional pictures of my button collection. I love buttons almost as much as I love fabric.

Hope you're having a fabulous day.

Aloha

It's so good to know that others have the same experience I do...once in a while I have this experience and think..."why did I even make this?"

I, personally, think this is cute, minus the yo-yo's. I would proudly display my pins in it.

I know this will probably come off as rude and I apologize now, but the pincushion would be cute minus the yoyo's because it just looked like nipples to me. Sorry

My first thought was nipples as well, lol. I think it would be fantastic sans the yoyo's - can you just froggy stitch them? I like the flower/button embellishment in the middle, and the fabric is sweet - I think it just needs a little bit of MacGyvering to be perfection! Love your button collection too - you're very organized!

It reminds me of those huge pincushions with the little chinese men all around it. Do you remember those? My grandmother had one of those...love the buttons! So organized!

I like the pincushion. I think the color scheme is not as good as that of your other pin cushions but otherwise think its great!

It's not so bad! The colors aren't what I would choose, but the shape and design are just fine! Becky g.

Thank you for sharing a 'doesn't' - very brave, usually doesn't just makes it to the cutting room floor :) - and thank you for giving me a laugh this morning before I head off to work. I can't help but think boobies when I look at this pincusion - but I also think it would look fantastic without the yoyo's :)
ps. bit envious of those beautifully organised buttons too ;)

Lettie, if only this comment had sound with it. I just about busted a gut reading these comments. Boy, did I need a good laugh...thanks for that.

As for the pincushion.......I thought of nipples, too, but wouldn't have had the nerve to event type the word nipple if someone else hadn't first.

I gotta go get a tissue...

Love,
Amy

P.S. Believe it or not, I love the pincushion.
