I have tried to piece these together in every angle imaginable but they amount to absolutely nothing recognizable. One edge of each piece has been left open. It looks as if they either need to be joined together or be joined to a another piece (which I don't have).
I'm sorry, but all I see when I look at these are tiny little bras. Do any of you recognize this pattern?
Going by the color of the yarn, it looks as if it could be from the 60's.
The recycle-happy person in me does not want to throw these way. I mean, just look at the effort that went into making it.
It has sparked my curiosity so much that I am on a quest to find out what pattern this is.
So, my fellow hobbyists, do tell if you have any idea what these are. If you have a guess, that would be great too otherwise my next quest will be to find 22 tiny breasted people who are interested in wearing little odd-shaped orange bras. Ha!

They could be socks, maybe she left them like that and was going to add a different color to finish them off. Interesting...
I had a baby blanket that looked very similar, four of them joined together, with the raised bits in the middle to form "leaves" pointing outward - it then makes a square, which were joined together, I'm trying to find the pattern to see if it is, will let you know

I think they are golf club covers. They were pretty popular back in the 60's and 70's.
I agree with Pamela i have been knitting a blanket very similar to this. you join 4 together together to make a square with petals in the centre.
At least they have been useful for making readers smile!

As soon as I saw it I knew because a friend brought some in to craft group a couple of months ago - it is as Pamela and Tracy Dee say - it is really pretty once you have a group together - the 'leaves' are supposed to be a bit raised...

Look a little like gnome hats to me but seriously I agree with the others . ?there were baby blankets which joined 4 together to make a leaf shape. Very poplular they were too.

I have a quilt that My great Aunt knitted for me many years ago. It has been one of my prized possessions, as she died of breast cancer shortly after its completion. It looks like what the other ladies are saying about a flower in the center with the raised petals. I can't quite get past the hunter orange color, but with the right combination it might be rather striking!
I am with Gardenofdaisies, I was going with Jock strap, and wasn't sure if I could say that here or not. LOL Hope you find an answer, I am intrigued.

The orange thingies are cushions you put 4 together with leaf pointing to the center,when done they are really pretty

they could be hoods for little red riding hood dolls.
My residents at the nursing home said they were bonnets that tie under the dolls chin
They got a real laugh at the bra idea
