THE GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR ENTERING!
I believed in the Easter Bunny for way too many years. Even when I was old enough to reason, I continued to have my doubts about whether he actually existed. I am the eldest of 4 siblings and my parents kept the Easter Bunny legend alive and well for many, long years. Something inside of me said that if I stopped believing, I would end up without an Easter basket on Easter morning. So I continued to sorta-believe for most of my early years. Just in case.
I tried to keep the Easter Bunny legend alive with my son too. It worked when he was really young but when he got old enough to comprehend, he kept pressing me about how the Easter Bunny could possibly get into our house to deliver his basket since we kept all of our doors locked. Only after you have dealt with an overly intelligent, know-it-all, persistent 5 year old, would you come to understand the difficulty of keeping up the ruse.
Okay, so my story was an outright lie. I told him that the Easter Bunny was able to enter our home through our front door by opening the lock with the tips of his ears. I know that it sounds completely insane but that was a line that I had taken from one of his storybooks. If it was in print then he'd believe it, right?
Yes, I'm still asking myself, WHAT WAS I THINKING?? Couldn't I have come up with something better?? I will never forget how he challenged me and said that it was impossible and that I should stop telling stories and that lying was bad. The kid was as smart as a whip and wasn't buying any of it. As the years progressed, I blew the Easter Bunny's cover. I had to. It became increasingly difficult dealing with this issue. The kid had finally worn me down.
A part of me cannot wait to see how he will handle this with his own children. I hope that I am around the conversation just so that I can watch Mr. Smartypants get grilled the way he grilled me.
Yes, even though they were trying times, I still believe that it is a parents right to pass along these childhood legends. If I had to do it all over again, I would. Except for the part about opening the door with the tips of his ears. I'd probably change that to something about the Easter bunny and his magical powers or something. That somehow seems a lot more logical to me now. *Smirk*
A huge thank you goes out to Sandi at A Legacy of Stitches for inviting me to participate in her Good Eggs Giveaway. I expect that you will have loads of fun as there are a good number of participants giving away some really wonderful items. My giveaway is open to everyone. As you hop along the bunny trail, please be sure to read each participants rules as they may differ.
I thought that I'd pass along a small piece of Hawaii through this giveaway. I know that I live in a very special place thanks to generations before me who decided to make their home here in the islands.
This giveaway will include eight, 1/2-yard cuts of 45" dress-weight Hawaiian print fabric.
A box of Maui Caramacs and a box of Chocolate Covered Macadamia Nuts.
A box of Kona Coffee Macadamia Nut Cookies.
A Floor Buddy. I don't know if these are unique to Hawaii or not. They are usually kept in the kitchen on the floor to wipe up small spills. The bottom is lined in an absorbent terry cloth. You slip it onto your foot like you would slippers and use your foot to wipe up the mess. No more bending!
Lastly, a colorful Surf's Up mug for hot or cold beverages.
My giveaway will run from March 24, 2010 through midnight EST on March 28, 2010. A winner will be selected by random number generator on March 29, 2010 and the package will be mailed on March 31, 2010. Please be sure that you leave me a way to contact you should you be the winner.
To enter this giveaway, please comment under this post. Any comment will do but an Easter related comment would be much appreciated. One entry per person please.
Please click HERE to continue hopping down the bunny trail for more fun!
Aloha!

I'd like to participate and hopefully win :-DDDD
What a great giveaway...I have never seen a floor buddy but what a great idea and the fabrics are gorgeous! I love Easter, the flowers, the birds singing, and the bunnies! Easter was always new white shoes, new Easter dress with hat and gloves and the blooming Easter bush (Forsythia). Love your blog!!!
OH MY GOODNESS!!! 205 comments so far?!?!? *long sigh*
I hope I get a chance to win your prize... I live in Canada and although we've had an incredible winter, with very little snowfall, just the mere mention of your state name puts me in a dreamy trance! *VBG*
Easter? Well, I remember ALWAYS getting Easter candy and a brand NEW skipping rope. If I was lucky, I'd get a new spring dress with new leotards and new (fancy) shoes. Once, I remember getting gloves and a spring hat to go with my outfit, even! *grinning*
Tks for the contest! BTW, I don't remember ever seeing a "Floor Buddy" here and I DO love the concept!

I love Easter! Actaully all Hoildays. When my children were young I made it easier to believe, by having the kids look for their baskets outside in the garden, where the bunny had left them. Or by going to their grandparents home, where grandpa had just caught the bunny & help get all kinds of cookies for a surprise! Life is so much fun when children are young, it allows us to remain young trying to insight creatvity in their minds.
The best memory is walking to church in our new outfits on Easter Sunday with my 3 sisters. pamspinks.blogspot.com
What great prizes to win in your give away! I love the Hawaiian fabrics and of coarse the goodies. The bunny hop has been a lot of fun browsing though so many different and inspiring blogs. Thanks!
One of my favorite memorys is I always got a white bunny I love white chocolate and my dad always made sure I had one.

Would love to hear his ideas for this as well! Funny post! We tend to keep to the spiritual side of Easter, so no ideas coming from me....those fabrics would make some nice handbags for summer.

Wow, those fabrics are gorgeous - what happy, bright colors!
I just finished making pecan nougat eggs - the nougat center is dipped into homemade caramel and then rolled in toasted pecans. Everyone loves them!
Aloha,
This is the first time I visited your blog and I am so glad I just became a follower. This good egg hop has shown many creative people.

What a great story. Easter has always been my favorite holiday/season. My daughter now lives in Hawaii and will be celebrating Easter this year with her 2 young children (5 and 9 months). Just love the fabrics.
What a wonderful story...some kids are just too smart. My sister and I remember being at my Grandmas house on Easter, we were sleeping on the pull out couch, and we heard a noise...we both squeezed our eyes closed because we knew if we saw the Easter Bunny...he would hop away and leave us nothing. I love that memory. What a beautiful giveaway.

Hello i'm not sure if my husband still believes in the Easter Bunny .He is 62yrs old and still expects the Easter Bunny to bring him a chocolate Bunny. He was very diappointed one year when he didn't get one.Mary Ellen
I am on the mainland in Idaho. It is difficult to plan egg hunts on Easter morning since our weather is so unpredictable. But my oldest daughter and I are preparing for one and will move indoors if necessary. Mac nut filled eggs would be a pleasant surprise to my teen-aged boys and her young toddler. Mahalo!
Every Easter we would get new hats, and mom would sew my 2 sisters and I new dresses...usually the same print, only different colors. We loved them! Of course the Easter bunny came...we were innocent farm kids so believed in anything. lol
Thanks for the chance to win!
Love your prizes. Hope I win.
awesome giveaway I love the fabrics
Thank you
I'm looking forward to spending Easter with my parents, and finally using my sewing machine for the first time in four month! And yes, we still have an Easter egg hunt before mass every year.
Aloha, Thanks for the chance to win, what a great package.
Thank you for the chance to win such a wonderful prize. I really like the floor buddy. I've never seen anything like this before but what a back saver!! I always enjoyed getting a new outfit (including hat and gloves) each year for Easter. And dying the Easter Eggs. Thanks again for being so generous. Can't wait to see who wins.
You are so lucky to live in Hawaii. Love it there.
Wonderful giveaway! I have great memories of easter egg hunts, pretty dresses, yummy breakfasts, family and friends and beautiful spring days!
Wow Lettie,
I love your giveaway items! I have never been to Hawaii but I love all the bright colors! The story about the Eastern bunny is funny.

Your post is just delightful.~ I'll tell your story to my children...they'll LOVE it! Thank you. We make up stories all the time too...just retold the 3 little pigs and my 6yo LOVED me changing the pigs to her and her siblings. LOL! If I happened to say, "the second pig" instead of her brother's name...oooo, did she correct me!!!
Thank you for the chance to win.

My funniest memory of Easter is when I, my two younger brothers and 3 younger cousins were all at Grandma's house. I was still awake when 'the easter bunny' came to visit and heard an egg drop and break. I kept my eyes closed tight and tried not to giggle.
Thanks for a wonderful giveaway.
Ai,ai,ai...
Eu quero!!

Thanks for the great giveaway! Happy Easter!
Oh my! Who wouldn't want any one of those things from your island? I would be honored to be a part of your giveaway AND I kind like the "tips of the ears unlocking the front door story"! :D
Hi Lettie; I'm in "blogworld since 1 year now ana I'm following you since then, I love your work and you have some great tutorials! This giveaway is just great and I want to try my luck! I live in Italy but I come from Belgium, Easter Bunny brought a lot of chocolate eggs in my grandfathers garden and we all had to search them, after that we had a loveley dinner my grandmother cooked! I love Easter time, spring is at the beginning, colours are to be born, ... Wish you have a nice weekend, Renata.
one of my favorite easter memories was going out to my grandma's farm on easter...all day we'd be so excited because the adults would tease us and say i think we saw the easter bunny!! and then at some point in the day, they'd lock us up in my grandma's craft room for some crazy excuse and then they'd let us out and ut oh! the easter bunny had came and left presents and candy and eggs all over my grandma's yard. we'd freak of course and go gathering eggs and candy like mad kids. i miss those times! happy easter!!
I wish I had a easter story but in my country we don't celebrate ¡_¡ snif. (I hope this giveaway is open worldwide =p). I'm glad I found your blog, is full of great ideas!
Hmmmm.Seems the Easter Bunny won't be tripsing over snow banks here in NE Minnesota this year! We've had a very unseasonably EARLY spring this year and have no snow for that bunny to be hopping around in. We always made "tracks" in the snow when our kids were young by poking the snow with a broom handle to make bunny tracks and prove there really was a Easter Bunny! Ha! The kids are all grown up now but we still giggle on Easter Sunday about those days of when they were little! Thanks for offering the wonderful things for your drawing. Would LOVE to be included! Thanks so much!

It's usually nice and sunny and warm here in Florida. Many families like to spend the day at the beach. It does seem to rain every Easter during sunrise service though.
Hi, please enter me, and come on over to my blog and enter my giveaway...hugs from a fellow bunny hopper.
Simona aka Rockgranny from Krpe&zakrpe (Croatia)
I just finished making an Easter wreath complete with plenty of bright colored eggs and tissue paper hahaha
Chocolate is my favorite for Easter.. shoot, chocolate is my favorite for ANY holiday :)
The fabrics are beautiful! We celebrate Easter here in Germany with lots of chocolate, adding in our American midwestern tradition of a new dress for Easter Sunday church.
Easter is a special time of year for our family. Not only going to church, but the dinner and fun afterwards. Of course, there's always the Easter egg hunt. LOL Last year we put out the eggs around the trees and shrubs, and when the kids went to find them they were gone.
Comne to find out, my sister's son let their new dog, who they recently got from a rescue shelter, out to do his business. He is turn wanted his own Easter egg hunt unknown to us. LOL That's like the "Grench who stole Christmas" LOL
This year we are putting out the little plastic eggs, and watching the dog, Toby. Have a nice Easter, and your blog is wonderful. Just love everything about it.
My blog: http://quiltingcanbefun.blogspot.com Thank you for sharing!

A wonderful spring package of gifts! My 9 year old still loves the Easter egg hunt. I still love doing it for her. Now our 2 year old son will join the hunt this year. Something so special about those squeals of discovery! Thanks for joining Sandi and the chance to win some Hawaii!!
Hawaian Easter! I love the floor buddy, I have never seen one before and it sure beats tossing the towel to the floor to wipe up my spills.
We have had so much snow in the mountains of NC this winter that I am looking forward to Easter as a signal of snow free days ahead.
good morning Lettie.....I am thinking of Easter in Hawaii....beautiful beaches and a feast on the beach with colored eggs, baskets of candy, colored grass, yummy tanned surfers...lol OH my...where are the bunnies..maybe beach bunnies???
hugs..
wow .. you are very generous. Easter is still being celebrated in our home (keeping up the ruse for smarty pants kids!!). My husband and I hide eggs all over the house after the kids go to sleep, and then I think we have as much fun as they do finding the eggs in the morning!

Please enter me in your delightful giveaway.
My story: About 35 years ago my cousin invited several families, including mine, to her home for Easter dinner. When we arrived, their young daughter was wailing because she had lost a tooth the day before, put it under her pillow, and the Tooth Fairy did not come. Her mother whispered to me, "We don't know what to say to her." I looked at her daughter and asked if the Easter Bunny had left anything. She showed me a nice basket full of candy and toys, and her little brother showed me his basket also. I said, "I know what happened! The Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are friends, Santa also, and they help each other out at the busiest time. The Tooth Fairy was helping the Easter Bunny deliver baskets and treats last night. I'll bet that if you put the tooth under your pillow again tonight, the Tooth Fairy will be back on her regular job." Sure enough, the next time that I saw her, she told me that the Tooth Fairy had arrived the second night, just as I predicted.

Aloha Lettie,
There isn't anything on your blog that I do not love. Keep up the great work and the sharing that you do! One of my Easter traditions with my 4 kids growing up was hunting for treasures in the house early on Easter morning. I had clues all over the place and the older kids that could read would take turns reading out loud to the younger ones. The clues would lead to other clues and small treasures with every other clue. My kids still continue this tradition with their children. My oldest gradchild being amost 21 still gets into it but the prizes are so much more expensive these days. Once the grass outside is not so wet, then the egss get hidden and you have to be fast as the pet dogs are also into the hunt and will eat the eggs shell and all if you don't get to them fast enough. I don't know who was funnier, the pets or the kids.
Happy Easter to you and yours!
