Whimsical Butterfly

Sparkly and polka-dotted, a touch of whimsy that all little girls love. This cutie measures just under 5-inches and has been attached to a clothespin so that she can be securely pinned to almost anything. Wouldn't this make a cute decoration in a little girl's bedroom? How about as part of a curtain tie back? The possibilities are endless.

My sincere thank you to all of you who read my blog and especially to those who comment. Knowing how truly precious time is, I appreciate that you choose to drop by and see what I am up to.

Beach Tote

Every girl needs a summer bag to tote her towel and suntan lotion to the beach. The only thing missing is the cute polka dot bikini to go with it!

Living In A Polka Dot World

Okay, someone stop me, please. People are going to start wondering about me real soon. All I do is think about polka dots and flower yo-yo's and the projects that I can make with them. It is getting very difficult to wrap my mind around other things.

This is a picture of what my grungy vintage hanger looked like before the transformation...

This is after...

Imagine these hangers in a little girl's closet. Throw out all those yucky plastic ones and replace them with rows and rows of these cuties. Oh, the thought is almost too much for me to take.

If I owned a children's boutique, these are the hangers that you would see throughout my store. Of course, the main wall would also be painted in giant polka dots too. Boy, am I a dreamer!

The kleenex tissue holders are coming along, although in my opinion, not quite fast enough. Here is the progress so far. I will probably be sewing on buttons all day today. Ick! It is clearly not one of my favorite things to do because it slows me down too much.

I also ran out of linen fabric and will need to start an island-wide search sometime soon. At the same time, I'll be looking for more polka dot fabrics too. A girl can never have too much, you know. It can be very difficult to find what you're looking for when your search area is limited like it is over here. I jumped for joy when I found the linen and snatched up the 4 yards that were left. I had the biggest stupidest smile on my face and practically danced out of the store with delight when I found it. Yeah, it sometimes can be that difficult to find things on this island.

Pincushion Tutorial from Whip Up

Many of you are asking for a pincushion tutorial. I'm crazy busy at the moment so I fished one out from cyberspace for you. This is from a great site called Whip Up. Of course, it is for the basic pincushion but I'm sure this will enable you to create a unique pincushion to call your own.
Have fun!

Polka Dot Fabric Tissue Cover

Table fillers. This is the name that I give to these fabric tissue covers and to any other small item that is quick and easy to make. They are used to round out the craft fair table and soften the edges, so to speak.

One down, just 207 more to go.

Thanks for stopping by and for all of the wonderful comments you've made. You really know how to bring a smile to my face!

I hope you all have a productive weekend. I plan to spend mine in front of the sewing machine. Craft fair "season" is around the corner. I'm so far behind it isn't funny. Can you smell panic??? LOL

I'll be back to blogging on Tuesday. Take care, stay safe, and have a fabulous holiday weekend.

I Love Pincushions!

I have a long standing fascination with pincushions stemming from childhood. I remember organizing the pins on my mother's pincushion by color and placing them into neat little rows. I looked forward to the aftermath of her sewing spree just to be able to reorganize those pins once again. I guess I didn't have all that much to do as a child. *grin*

I hope you enjoy seeing my latest polka dot project. Tell me if you're getting tired of them, okay? LOL

Sorry for the dark and shadowy photos. The lighting is very poor. We're currently experiencing vog due to southerly Kona winds. It has blocked out much of the sunshine making everything pretty hazy and gloomy. (If you're wondering what vog is, the word itself is derived from volcanic pollution and smog).

I've been feeling rather energetic and cheerful since I began working with my polka dot fabrics. I guess perky fabrics will do that to you. I should have pulled them out much sooner!
